Reading to feel happy

Reading can actually make you feel better!  From cheering you up (ideal if you're wishing you were there), to helping you sleep (perfect for those sticky summer nights) reading is proven to help...

    • Cheering you up - Top medical experts support that reading actually helps your health and lifts your mood
    • A break from your worries - In an adult reading survey, 2 out of every 3 people said that their main reason for reading was to forget about their troubles
    • Helping you sleep - A whopping 82% read to wind down, with over 1/3 finding it hard to sleep if they haven’t read before bedtime
    • It's just about enjoying it - Only 29% of those surveyed read to learn about something – so it’s mostly about reading for fun. Try it out to find out what you enjoy most: books, magazines, newspapers, articles online, comics... It doesn't matter what it is.
    • Feeling more motivated - Nearly 60% claimed reading had influenced them to change something in their lives...
