Talk to your baby

Talk To Your Baby is a campaign run by the National Literacy Trust to encourage parents and carers to talk more to children from birth to three. Talking to young children helps them become good communicators, which is essential if they are to do well at school and lead happy, fulfilled and successful lives.

Early Reading connects

Early Reading Connects is a DCSF-funded National Literacy Trust project which aims to help early years settings develop a reading culture. Early Reading Connects is building on the success of Reading Connects which helps primary and secondary schools to build communities which read.

Family Reading Matters

Family Reading Matters is an initiative funded by two Government departments (the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills) and delivered by the National Literacy Trust. It is piloting the difference that a dedicated local authority strategic coordinator could make to supporting the literacy of both children and their parents.

Reading the game

Reading The Game (RTG) is an initiative run by the National Literacy Trust which works to promote reading, writing, and speaking and listening for all ages through the motivational power of sport

Premier league reading stars

Premier League Reading Stars (PLRS) is an educational project, which harnesses the motivational power of football to encourage families to enjoy reading. It targets those hard to reach groups in society who may not have shown an interest in reading, but who do have a passion for football.

Reading champions (Sport)

Reading The Game aims to help every professional football club to identify its own Reading Champion. The support of the Professional Footballers' Association with this activity is invaluable.

Reading Champions

Schools invite boys and men who are influential in school to become Reading Champions. These Champions encourage other boys to get into reading by running their own positive reading activities and promotions. By following our framework (see below), boys can be nominated for bronze, silver and then gold awards, which provides recognition for their achievements and helps keep them motivated.

Kick into Reading

Kick into Reading is an RTG programme funded by www.artscouncil.org.uk and supported by the Professional Footballers' Association(www.givemefootball.com), where football clubs deliver stories to schoolchildren at their local libraries.

‘Til I Die

'TIl I Die is a writing project that enables fans to come together to share and write stories about their club, under the guidance of a Skills for Life tutor. The aim is for these to be published in a book that will encourage community and club involvement and reading among fans.
