About Us
Reading for Life promotes the benefits of reading at all stages of life, to provide opportunities, health, family happiness and overall enjoyment. It's come out of the 2008 National Year of Reading.
So we have sections of the site for kids, teenagers, families and adults, that will capture your imagination and show that reading is for you.
If you are a literacy professional, teacher or librarian, or are looking for information on literacy policy and research, try our parent site the National Literacy Trust.
So what's on the site?
We have a section called Explore Reading that shows that words aren't just about books, you can find them in:
Film and animation – From scripts to books that became films, words are everywhere in the movie business. Also check out our webcomics, or even write your own!
Fact – is the truth stranger than fiction? From sharks in houses to extreme engineering, leave the fairy stories behind.
Music and lyrics – Words and music are a powerful combination - unless you get them wrong! Debate the best and worst lyrics ever, discover secret messages or sing along with Songsmith.
Sports centre – Read about your favorite sports, or see what your favorite sports stars like to read.
Comedy – different ways to get a comedy fix, from blogs to twitter
Games – interactive fun from arcade classics to survival games
This is reading – an interactive story to show what we think reading is
We also have:
Reading ideas – ideas and resources to inspire you
Reading places – an events map that shows what’s on near you
A professionals section, If you’re a reading practitioner or someone who wants to encourage readers.
A Family and Adults section, for parents, children and adults with lots of reading ideas and resources.
A section of Resources, including our guidance materials for professionals, and another for downloading our Logos and Brand Guidelines.
Celebrity 'Feel Good' Reads
